Emotional Night in St Louis Closing down the WAY OUT CLUB in Style ST LOUIS ROCKS!

When we heard one of the coolest Dive Bars in this great country was closing  The Way Out Club , we hopped on the bill for July 16th. Bob and Sherri have been nice enough to have hosted us many times at this place and when I entered the front door Bob came running out from behind the bar happy to see me and told me he was excited to hear us perform, that made my night right there, or at least I thought it was going to be the highlight as he has seen a lot of bands, a real lot giving many a chance at both the original location and this one.

Me, Kenny and Bloomer arrived together as StinkBomb was going through their rousing set that had the mosh pit moving. The place was hopping for sure and they stirred the pot.

It was a packed house and these guys left the crowd wanting more and even after an encore song they chanted for more!. Keep an eye out for this band. StinkBomb is raw power-punk delivered with authenticity.

St Louis punk rockers Sewer Urchin were up next and they kept the pit going strong as they drove another flavor of power punk rock. Swamp Gaslighting indeed! Fun fast set.

Then it was time to play and it was as usual HOGG DRAMA. Stevie Joe couldn't make the trip so cousin Kenny Hogg came up from Dallas to play this show. Me and Bloomer picked him up at the airport and headed to the club.

Pappy arrived right on time but we had no time to practice together and lo and behold they are recording video of everybody's set so, no pressure on Kenny. Not a bit. Me a little bit as we all were rushing to get set up so I did band introductions as we did line checks. Then a few bad jokes and just as I had nothing left Kenny kicked off the set with the opening lick on  GITTIN PLACE , followed by FISHIN & DRINKIN, WTML,HOGG TAIL TWIST, CASHVILLE, TEXAS HAMMER, PARTY IN MY PANTS, CREAM GRAVY, ONION RING, and SUNDEE SCHOOL. I can't remember which song but the mosh pit was alive for us? Our genuine TX CowPunk? Slam Dancing? Well Kenny loves it and he dived into the pit playing guitar while banging around.

So we were going to do "Rusty" next but Kitty also could not make the show and I hear somebody yelling BIG PINK RIG, so I told the band that was next. My right foot was a little tired so I told the audience I was going to sit down and so I did at front of the stage. Turned to Pappy and said give me a ba da da dump and I started the tale.

And the mosh pit all sat down and so did the people standing at/near a table, the pit was a spectacle as they sat like they were at a campfire listening to ghost stories or whatever. When we got to the chorus of Oinks and Moos the pit all stood up and did a dosey-doe dance if you will and then they sat on every verse. I can't wait to see that video as these pictures courtesy of Greg Gevers and Scott Woll did not get the pit all sitting, who knew?

We completed the set with BIKER ANN and next up was Without MF Order.

The Captain was on fire, he delivered a rousing set of favorites like FHRITP, TEENAGE,  MY BALLS, COTTAGE CHEESE DREAMS, SHOOT EM UP HIGH SCHOOL, and many more including tracks from the 1st album like WITHOUT MF ORDER. As the set went on, the mosh pit attacked him more, results below..

Then with 100% class The band ended the night after completing the set by getting the crowd to chant Bob, Bob, Bob..... and Bob eventually came on stage thanking all and telling us to be what you want and then the Bob, Bob, Bob chants came back. a fun night.

Chock full of ST Louis punk rock fun. Take a look at all the folks who stayed for Bob long after the music stopped.  Truly the end of an era.
