A Fun Trip to Morgantown, KY @ One27Main

CJ5 calls me at 7AM sayin HEY the club is asking if we are going to still play tonight because of the snow storm. Forecast when I went to bed was for 1-2 inches , half awake without my coffee I said I'll tell you by noon. But it don't matter, I'm up so I make a fresh pot and open up my trusty laptop and see that the forecast is the same but a WINTER ADVISORY was in effect till 4 AM Saturday. I asked the guys if anybody wanted to cancel, nope.

So the club is interesting as it served as a bank from 1800's to the 1940's I think I heard. (correction always requested), Anyway what must of been the front lobby has a nice stage with a backroom for band privacy. I tell you what that means, it is so out of the ordinary for us what many performers take for granted we sure don't. It is an all ages venue and that helped as opener local Singer Songwriter Clayton Crowder kicked off his set and it didn't take long to to appreciate his strong vocal abilities, they draw you into his songs. Next up were a 2 Man+ act that we were chatting with at load in, they call themselves Clover Creek Bastards and they had some really cool merch. Not sure which way they came in they said an hour from Morgantown where we were. I saw them load in the stand up bass fiddle and I was ready for some bluegrass.

Check out this video I took of their performance.

CLOVER CREEK BASTARDS live 3-11-22

So as they start their set it starts snowing and mind you this part of the country folks ain't used to snow and that's that. Since they see it coming down and since stage faces straight back to front display window after 30 minutes they say to crowd we got to get going don't want to get stuck here. Too bad as they were good even had a lady friend join on vocals and we got to hear a little bass fiddle with the bow on that song.

OK, we come out and with the snow that to me was nothing, it was 1 inch tops, but again out here you get folks in a panic and well the crowd was sparse but we are there to play and really wanted to with the digital sound system they have it was super easy to hear yourself and not need to use in ear monitors or just not hear well.
